Neck (Head) How much does your head weigh?

This will be the first post in a subsequent short series of posts about headaches and neck pain and problems.

So how much does your head weigh? On average, the head of an adult weighs about 5 kg. This is simply the weight of the head when weighing the head as an organ of the body. But...

But what weight of the head will be when tilting the head forward, in equivalent of tension in the neck muscles? That is, you moved your head a little forward and tilted your head down forward - this is your standard pose over a mobile phone, for example...

So, if you look forward without tilting or extending your head (ideally, your earlobe is directed toward the middle of your shoulder), the weight of your head for your neck muscles will remain about 5 kg. By lowering your head down into the phone, you also move it forward a little, right. And now the weight of your head will be many times greater: with a slight tilt - it’s about 15 kg, and the usual position of the most dominant majority above the phone - the weight of your head will increase as much as up to 30+ kg!

Now imagine that you stretched your arm forward with a 25 kg weight. How long can you hold this weight (if you lift it at all)? So why do you think your neck can hold this weight all day long without consequences? These are your neck tensions and headaches.

What to do?
Well, first of all, control your body and your actions. Plus limit the amount of time you spend on gadgets. Plus – physical activity, gym, swimming pool, walks, etc. And finally, come to my clinic for MASSAGE therapy and I will “fix” you (if I can say so, of course...)!

And in my next post you will read about the “widow’s mound” - this is a kind of hill on the neck. And also because of the tilt of the head.
