What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy (SWT) is a modern, evidence-based treatment that uses high-energy acoustic sound waves to target pain, inflammation, scar tissue, and chronic tension in muscles and tendons.
These waves penetrate deep into your tissues, triggering a biological healing response in the exact area where your body has become “stuck” in pain or poor function. It’s like hitting the “reset button” on stubborn injuries.
No needles. No medication. No downtime. Just a smart way to kickstart your body’s own recovery.

🧠 Why use it — and what does it help with?

Many people come to us saying things like:
"It’s been months and nothing helps…"
"The pain comes and goes, but never fully goes away…"
"I’ve tried physio, massage, rest — but it always comes back…"
Shockwave Therapy is designed exactly for these kinds of conditions. When the body gets stuck in a loop of low-grade inflammation, poor circulation, and micro-damage, manual therapy alone isn’t always enough.

Shockwaves help to:
Break down calcified tissue and adhesions
Stimulate blood flow and collagen production
Reduce chronic inflammation and tension
Desensitise painful nerve endings
Reboot the healing process where it's stalled

🎯 What conditions can Shockwave Therapy treat?
Shockwave is especially effective for chronic or recurrent problems, including:

Lower body:
Plantar fasciitis / heel spur
Achilles tendinopathy
Shin splints
Knee pain (patellar tendinitis, runner’s knee)
Hip bursitis and gluteal tendinopathy

Upper body:
Tennis elbow / golfer’s elbow
Shoulder calcification
Rotator cuff issues
Biceps or triceps tendinopathy
Chronic neck and upper back muscle knots

Spine & general pain:
Persistent lower back pain
Myofascial trigger points
Sacroiliac joint discomfort
Tight, fibrous scar tissue after injury or surgery

If you're unsure whether it’s right for your condition — we’ll be happy to assess and advise.

🔍 What does it feel like? What to expect?

The session begins with a quick assessment and gentle warm-up massage to prepare the tissue. Then the therapist applies the shockwave device to the target area.
You’ll feel a series of rhythmic pulses — like strong taps or vibrations deep inside the tissue. Some areas may feel more intense (especially if there’s scar tissue or calcification), but most clients describe it as a “good pain” that’s worth it.
Each session takes around 10-15 minutes, and you may feel lighter or looser straight away — though full benefits build over 5–7 sessions.
No recovery time is needed, and you can return to daily activities immediately after.
